Dear Friends of NAAM,

We are excited as the Museum approaches its one year anniversary and I want to thank you all for the overwhelming support and love you have given to this project. I am proud to announce a number of exciting events that will be happening at NAAM in the upcoming months.

The Museum is pleased to present a wonderful traveling exhibit from the Washington State History Museum – Tacoma’s Civil Rights Struggle, African Americans Leading the Way – which opens on February 5, 2009. This unique exhibition explores the challenges faced by Tacoma citizens who participated in the Civil Rights Movement and features more than 100 artifacts including reports, articles and photographs.

Also, in February, to celebrate Black History Month, we will offer several programs, events, and exhibitions including Festival Sundiata’s 2009 Black Palette Art Exhibit on display from February 13 through February 15. This juried art exhibition features the work of amazing local artists.

As always we rely on your support as donors, volunteers, and members of this valuable community resource. Please help us continue to serve children, students, schools, communities and youth by donating and becoming a member today.

We look forward to seeing you here at the Museum in 2009 during a year that promises to be a historic and momentous one for all!
