Artist + engineer Christopher Shaw presents minimalist works in clay and urges us to consider how objects carry the seeds of culture.
About the Artist + Exhibit
Christopher Shaw is a Seattle based ceramic artist, designer, and engineer. Shaw’s sculptural work consists of focused examinations of our concept of value. Drawing heavily on his training in mathematics, Shaw seeks to form and reform an aesthetic topography through transformative experiences. The process employed in crafting each work combines abstract logic and intuitive perception.
In Algorithm:Archetype, Christopher Shaw explores the spiritual bridge between notions of design and processes of divination. Shaw presents us with minimalist works in clay and urges us to consider how objects carry the seeds of culture. Individual and assembled ceramic sculpture join vessel forms in this body of work. NAAM is fortunate to have hosted such a thoughtful and immersive experience.
