NAAM Black History Month Series Presents

The Black Art Takeover

The Northwest African American Museum introduces The Black Art Takeover. For our culminating event of Black History Month, we remind our communities that Black Art is History! The creatives in our communities capture important moments and ideas through their works that reflect the modern Black experience in the Pacific Northwest.

This takeover is NAAM’s effort to create space and a spotlight for artists who make sure the power and emotion of Black stories is captured, seen, and celebrated. Join us on Saturday, February 22 for the Black Art Takeover to enjoy guided museum tours, an artist pop-up market, panel conversations, short film screening, special museum giveaways and more!

See the schedule of events during the Black Art Takeover below.

Meet the Artists of the Black Art Takeover

Witness the creativity, talent, and brilliance of local Black artists across multiple mediums! Walk through the pop-up artist market to see their work on display. Visitors have the opportunity to support by purchasing pieces of the artwork from these incredible artists.  Then, join the conversation and hear directly from the featured artists during our Artist Panel.
